WCWC Instructor Development is a structured path for serious students who want to deepen their understanding of Wing Chun, strengthen their ability to communicate and correct the material, and develop the judgment required to teach within the WCWC system.
Teaching adds a depth to Wing Chun that comes only when you become responsible for someone else's development. You have to do more than perform the material yourself—you have to recognize what another student is doing, understand why something is or is not working, and know how to correct it.

Wing Chun instructorship carries a responsibility to the art, to the student and to the standards passed down through the lineage.

At WCWC, that responsibility extends beyond technical ability. An instructor must continue to train, deepen their understanding, exercise judgment, conduct themselves appropriately and protect the quality of what is being passed to the next student.
The WCWC Instructor Path
Becoming an instructor doesn't mean your own development is finished. In many ways, it changes direction.
The path continues forward as you progress through the system, but it also goes deeper. Teaching requires you to return to material you already know with a different level of attention—to explain it, recognize problems, make corrections and understand it well enough to help another student develop.
Junior Instructor
The beginning of formal teaching development. A Siu Lo Si actively teaches under the direction of their Sifu while continuing their own training and instructor education.
Instructor
A qualified WCWC instructor who has developed the technical knowledge, curriculum understanding and teaching ability required to instruct students within the WCWC system.
Advanced Instructor
The highest WCWC instructor designation, including completion of the advanced system and weapons curriculum.
Your Path Depends on Where You're Starting.
Instructor development grows out of training. The right starting point depends on whether you already train at a WCWC school or are looking for a way to begin from an area where WCWC is not yet established.
Begin With Your Sifu.
If you already train at a WCWC school, instructor development begins within your existing training. Speak with your Sifu about your progress, your interest in teaching and whether you are ready to begin taking on greater responsibility.

Serious students outside an existing WCWC school area may be able to begin through a combination of online instruction, direct instructor guidance, in-person training and the development of a local training group.
The appropriate path depends on experience, location and training goals and is determined individually.

When there is no WCWC school nearby, the first goal is not to rush toward certification. It is to create a legitimate way to train, receive instruction and develop under WCWC guidance.
For the right student, that may eventually include establishing a small WCWC Training Group: a local group organized for structured practice while remaining connected to and supervised by the WCWC organization.

A WCWC Training Group is a pathway for training and development. Organizing or participating in a training group does not by itself confer WCWC instructor status or teaching certification.
Instructor authorization is earned separately through continued training, evaluation and demonstrated readiness.

WCWC teaching certification represents current qualification and standing within the organization—not simply a title or certificate earned sometime in the past.
Continued training, instructor education, active teaching requirements where applicable and adherence to WCWC standards are part of maintaining the responsibility to teach.

Certified instructors are authorized to teach according to the level, location and conditions of their current WCWC authorization and are expected to uphold Ip Man's Code of Conduct.
